We have a variety of programming, ranging from the weekly regulars such as Jummah and Halaqas to annual events such as the beginning of year Don’t Be Chai Social.
At our events, sustainability is a core value that we prioritize. We are committed to minimizing our environmental footprint by incorporating eco-friendly practices. One way we achieve this is by utilizing compostable utensils and plates. These items are made from renewable resources and can be easily broken down into compost, reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills. In addition to integrating compostable utensils and plates into our events, we also uphold sustainability through dedicated roles within our organization. Among these is the position of Event Coordinator and Sustainability Director on our executive board. This role ensures that our sustainable practices are maintained and improved upon.
Open to all, these jummahs offer a work accessible opportunity to attend Friday prayer, while connecting you to speakers that represent a variety of local Muslim organizations. We typically hold two Jummah prayers every Friday at the Bunting Interfaith Chapel, located at 1800 Orleans St Sheikh Zayed Tower. The timings for the prayers are from 12:30 to 1:00 pm and 1:30 to 2:00 pm. Please join our WhatsApp group for any updates or announcement related to prayers. Additionally, for graduate students who are not based on the East Baltimore campus or live further away, Jummah prayers are also available at the Homewood campus.
Halaqa series are offered weekly at 6-7 pm by Dr. Yassine Daoud and discuss a variety of topics that will be shared ahead of the Wednesday halaqa. Occasionally, we feature guest speakers at our halaqas too. To stay updated on any announcements or changes related to our halaqas, please join our WhatsApp group. You can also find the necessary zoom link in the Hopkins Halaqa group chat if we meet online. If we meet in person for halaqas, you can find us at the Wilmer Eye Institute Smith Building, situated at 400 N Broadway on the 3rd-floor conference room.
